Modelling the impact of the energy transition on distribution grids

Linaria

What impact will the energy transition have on an DSO’s distribution network and its financial and human resources between now and 2050?

To meet the needs of several DSOs, E-CUBE Strategy Consultants Swiss has developed a standard strategic analysis methodology to answer this question:

  • Detailed modelling of the DSO’s MV-LV network: By deploying machine learning tools, this approach can adapt to the specific characteristics of the DSO’s network (topology, customer types, regional energy planning, etc.) and accurately model the load curves for all connection points.
  • Aggregation of results at a strategic level: This methodology makes it possible to produce strategic planning indicators within a few months (e.g. key metrics in MCHF/year, flexibility value, estimated number of construction sites and impact on FTE). These metrics can be subjected to sensitivity analyses based on different energy scenarios.
